2022 is the Year of the Reader and while we are grateful for the readers that there are, we also recognize that by having a Read-A-Thon we can also encourage more people to read books.
Our goal for 2022 is to raise 1 million dollars.
Why participate in a Read-A-Thon? Leisure reading for a minimum of 30-minutes can help reduce stress and anxiety. At the same time, it can increase critical thinking, education and support the local economy.
Who can participate? Anyone of any age can be a Reader in this program. The only requirement is to get a minimum of $50 in sponsorships from their family, friends, and others.
How long will the Read-A-Thon run? The reading portion of the event begins on June 1st and ends on August 31st. That allows for three months of reading as many books as a reader wants to read.
How can I find a book to read for the Read-A-Thon? Our sponsor B4R.store bookstore has a wide collection of books available to purchase in paper or eBook. B4R.store will also give a 10% discount and FREE shipping to each reader signed up for this event. Click here to learn more: https://B4R.store
How can I register for the Read-A-Thon as a Reader? The process is simple. Begin by clicking on the link below to access the registration page. One reader per form, please. Once done, you will receive notice from DEAR Indie about your acceptance and more information to support you on your success. Once approved, we will create a webpage for you that you can share with your family, friends, and others to sponsor you. We will also follow up with you during the event to see how well you are doing and how much you have achieved for your fund-raising goal that you set for yourself, and the overall goal for the event.
How can I be a Sponsor to a Reader? If you don’t have someone in your circle of family or friends that is participating in the 2022 Read-A-Thon, you can view the various Readers in the website and select the person or persons you would like to sponsor. Complete the donation or sponsorship part on their page and know you have done a great deal. No sponsorship or donation is too small! You can come back to their pages throughout the event to see how well they are doing.
Here is how the money will be shared:
- Eighty percent of the funds raised will go to local schools, libraries, and literacy programs.
- Ten percent will go towards gifts and awards to readers and sponsors.
- Ten percent will go to administration costs.
